everything good will come
Award-winning Sefi Atta’s ‘Everything good will come’ is a coming of age novel set in Nigeria and England. The story centres on a young girl, Enitan and the struggles she had to deal with as she grew into a woman in the post-independence era in Nigeria. Battling with incessant fights between her parents while waiting for admission into Secondary school, Enitan finds solace in the arms of Sheri, their ‘bad’ neighbour that her mother warned her about.
This story touches issues like parenting, separation, youthful exuberance, rape, feminism, love, friendship and Biafra to name a few. It’s indeed a great read and relevant to all age groups.
